The Art of Pop
My first instrumental CD. Recorded Dec 2009 thru Feb 2010, released 2010. Gregg Bissonette on drums, Robert Karasek on keys and Martin Motnik on bass.
Back in 2010 when this album was recorded I worked as a product specialist/clinician mainly for digitech. I travelled the world demoing their products and my usual stop in January was the NAMM show in Anaheim/CA.
It happened that I was not invited that year so I decided to use the free time and produce this album.
This was long overdue, but with the back to back travelling schedule it was almost impossible to produce an album and or take a few weeks off to record songs.
The music on "The Art of Pop" is partly the tracks I played on trade shows such as Frankfurt Musik Messe, NAMM Show, Music China etc.
I opened up a show i.g. playing Rimski Korsakovs "Flight of the bumble bee" or "24-7". The goal was to get traffic on the booth and keep the people there to be able to show off the products.
Over time I added more musical ideas less flashy guitar oriented tunes. I still loved to have a burst of notes here and there.
Avalon, Fearless and Wierdly Good were written while recording this album. Older songs are Childhood Memories, SRV, Crabwaltz and Happysad for example.
Inside the CD are many personal pictures and a little story on each song.
